Visual Skills Screening
Screening for visual skills via internet
We’ll send you some temporary paper 3D glasses in the mail, along with instructions on how to log on to the program. You will then do the program for 3 days, and let us know when you’re done. We will evaluate your results and contact you to tell you whether you might benefit from further training or not.
More comprehensive services
We also offer comprehensive screening services, at your school or business site, including additional tests and measurements. Price will vary with distance and number of people to be screened. Please call for free estimate.
Visual Skills Training
ConvergEyes© program, up to 100 sessions
The ConvergEyes© program is a program of orthoptic exercises that the user performs at his or her own computer, via internet connection with the Gemstone Foundation server. The price includes up to 100 sessions of 12 minutes each. Every session has four 3-minute exercises, two for tracking and two for binocular fusion. You will wear 3D glasses in order to exercise the two eyes individually in the tracking games, and together in the binocular games. You will get immediate feedback on how well you are doing after each session, and a report from us that summarizes your progress after Sessions 30, 60, and 90.
The only difference between this program and the Dynamic Vision Training Program is that ConvergEyes does not have a focusing component (see below) and does not require you to visit your eye care professional prior to signing up.
Dynamic Vision Training© program, up to 100 sessions
The original, powerful, research-proven tool used in Gemstone's research, Dynamic Vision Training© is a program of orthoptic exercises that the user performs at his or her own computer, via internet connection with the Gemstone Foundation server. The price includes up to 100 sessions of 15 minutes each. Every session has 5 3-minute exercises, one for rapid re-focusing using the eye’s own lens, two for oculomotor tracking and two for binocular fusion. You will wear 3D glasses in order to exercise the two eyes individually in the tracking games, and together in the binocular games. In addition, during the focusing game, you will have lenses on top of your 3D glasses, to challenge your own lens to move more rapidly in response to defocus. You will get immediate feedback on how well you are doing after each session, and a report from us that summarizes your progress after Sessions 30, 60, and 90.
Maintenance Program
Many people find that after their initial eye-brain training is complete, they will occasionally feel eye fatigue or other symptoms again. This is not surprising, because the neuro-oculomotor systems of vision are like any other – They need continued exercise to maintain optimal performance. Therefore we offer you a long-term maintenance program at low cost (remember that half will go to help others who are less fortunate, or to support more research by Gemstone). Log on whenever you want, wherever you are and “tune up” your eyes – for that big exam, the important golf tournament, or all that sewing you have to get done by the holidays.
You must have completed either ConvergEyes© or Dynamic Vision Training© to sign up for the Maintenance program. The 3D glasses and focusing lenses are the same as the original program you ordered, and should be used again for Maintenance.
Education
Introduction to Visual Skills, any audience
We will gladly provide a speaker for your group or event. Typical presentations include demonstrations of how visual skills affect daily life; current research on visual skills and sports, academic, and health concerns; and how to determine whether you or a loved on might have visual skills problems. A donation is requested, and travel expenses for the speaker must be paid. Otherwise there is no charge.
In-service training workshop on Gemstone programs
Designed for doctor’s offices or schools, or any group that wants to be introduced to the Gemstone programs in a hands-on workshop format. A minimum of 2 hours is required; ½ day is recommended. The price includes up to an entire 8- hour day and all materials, but does not include travel for the instructor.
*Half of all payments received will go toward further research or service projects. We will send you a tax-deduction note along with your receipt.
Group Programs We offer all-inclusive custom-designed programs for any number of people. Site licenses give you the opportunity to pay less per program and involve more participants. Please contact us for details.
